A Year in Pictures

Here is a look at what happened in 2010.

A record breaking (well, almost) snowfall that left a foot or more of snow in some areas of the Metroplex

 March:
Mikaela started eating rice and just looked so cute.

 April:
Mike and I ran in our first 5K and it was Mikaela's first Easter.

 May:
My first Mother's Day and a pre-summer swim for Cocoa Bean

 June:
Mike's first Father's Day and Mikaela mastered crawling

 July:
Mike's 30th birthday celebration with the Rangers

 August:
Mikaela's first swim and small steps (though not walking quite yet)

 September:
Another swim for Cocoa Bean (center) with her buddies Blalock (left) and Jeremy (right) and Mikaela started walking

 October:
Midnight Yell with Aggie friends and The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown...

 November:
Mikaela turns one and my dear friend Amy marries her long time friend, 1st Lieutenant Bradley Bowling.
 December:
We went to see ICE! at the Gaylord Texan and Mikaela hit her first pinata.

What a difference a year makes!  Happy New Year's!  May God bring you great blessings in 2011!

Christmas Fun

Merry Christmas!  I hope the day was special for you.  Here are some highlights from our Christmas weekend.  Above, Mikaela took her picture with the Chick-fil-a Santa Cow.

Here is Mikaela's outfit for the Christmas Eve service.  Her Aunt Amy bought it for her.
Christmas morning started with a birthday celebration for Jesus complete with milk and birthday cinnamon rolls.  She really wasn't a fan and ended up eating cheerios.
After cleaning up from the party, Mikaela made her way to the tree to see what Santa brought.   She got a FisherPrice player piano, Legos, a rocking horse, and another large toy with blocks.

After playing with toys at home and a morning nap, we went to Graem-ma and Graempa's for a meal and more presents.  She really didn't get into the process of opening gifts, but enjoyed playing with them.

Updates

Language Update:

Spanish: mas, hola
English: mama, dada, up
Sign: more, milk, all done, eat, please, help, waves bye-bye

She is learning to dance to music.  At first it was just head motion/swaying.  Today she got her arms involved.  It looked like slow interpretive dance, but she was definitely dancing.

Her new favorite spots are sitting at her table, made by Gran & Papa Bill, or inside her toy box.  She is beginning to enjoy dress up.  It mostly consists of putting beaded necklaces around her neck and bandannas on her head, but I see fairy dresses, etc in our future.

Her favorite foods are peas, chicken nuggets, yogurt, and cheese.  She is very hesitant to try anything new, even if it comes from Mom and Dad's plate.  We still do baby food sometimes just to make sure she gets vegetables.

One Year Photos

Here are just some (but the best) of the photos our friend, Kylar, took of Mikaela for her one year shots.  We took them on my parents front porch and also at the Farmers Branch Historical Park.  The white dress is one that my sister and/or myself wore as a child.  The green dress was one made by my dear friend, Sarah.  Enjoy!  And yes, family, you will get copies.
