Mikaela's New Pal

 My first college roommate and great friend came to visit last week to help out.  She lives in Arkansas so it's rare that we get to see each other.  In fact, I met her son when he was 1 month old, but she hadn't met Mikaela so it was fun to visit, watch girlie movies and let our kids play, who are only a couple months apart.

Catching Up

It's been a while since I've really done pictures of Mikaela.  So I'm attempting to catch up a little.

 Mikaela is beginning to have enough hair for clip bows, though I rarely put them in.  This was just for fun.

 Fell asleep with her sippy.  I know, bad momma.  This sippy was a transition from bottle.  I was in the process of breaking this when the wreck happened so it looks like this will be a summer project when I am home and done with recovery.

The Latest

The second hand surgery was a success and I started therapy for my hand the following Monday, 3/14..  I will go twice a week for four weeks.  Daily, I have 5 very painful exercises I must do 3x a day for ten reps each.  It's very difficult, especially knowing that my signing is so impaired right now, but I trust that God will bring healing.  I wear a splint whenever I am not doing therapy.

My ankle is healing nicely.  Stitches are out but it is still non weight bearing for awhile.  I go back 3/29 to hopefully be fitted for a boot and walking should begin.

16 Months Old

Mikaela is 16 months old today.  It's hard to believe how fast she's growing up. 


Language:
She's talking more and more.  She says ball, papa, bye, hello, mio, pan (bread in Spanish), up, dada, mama, and probably a couple more Spanish words I'm forgetting.  She still signs quite a bit: please, more, all done, cheese, ball, help.

Activities:
She runs everywhere, always on the go.  She loves to play outside and go for walks.  She loves to color, throw a ball, and close doors.  She has a great time at day care everyday.  Daddy says she gets upset to leave.

Eating:
She's very picky.  She'll always eat bread and cheese, but not always anything else.  She eats well at daycare because her little buddy, Antonio eats anything you put in front of him and she doesn't want him eating her food.  So meals are a little bit of a battle of wills because I serve her what we are eating and eventually she usually eats something. 

We have some photos and videos to share but I am staying at my folks recovering from the wreck so I'll upload them when I can.  Here are two I have of her begging for Mommy's food after dinner one night this week.
