Pooch Pool Party

Our community pool does an annual pooch party the last weekend of summer before they drain the pools so we took Cocoa Bean this year. She has a kiddie pool at home that she loves so we knew she'd enjoy swimming if we could ever get her in deep enough water. It took quite awhile to get her confident enough to do this, but by the end she was having a good time. We started her out in the wading pool (above) then headed to the 2 ft kiddie pool next. Here Mike is trying to coax her in the water down the steps. She seemed okay with it and until the steps disappeared and she couldn't read the bottom.

Then out she wanted to come. After several attempts, we decided to take her to the 4 ft pool where there was no easy escape so that she'd be forced to swim around.
Here she is trying to get in the water, but not really understanding the concept of jumping in. She likes the water and wanted to go retrieve her toy, but just wasn't sure how to get there.

Finally she scooted in and went after her toy. She definitely liked the swimming and retrieval part.

Bringing her prey to Daddy:
She continued to just scoot into the water so Mike finally picked her up and threw her in.

Eventually, she caught on and somewhat jumped in on her own, the she still stalled slightly at the edge.

All in all, it was a good day and she had a lot of fun. We can't wait to take her again next year!

Graduation #2

Cocoa Bean completed the intermediate/advanced class at PetsMart and has received her 2nd (and 3rd) diplomas. The next goal is for her to take the Canine Good Citizen test. She took a mock test a few weeks back and did pretty well but Daddy still has a little more work to do with her. Hopefully soon she'll take the test. Here is she is sticking her tongue out. I think she was tired of all the pictures...

waiting her turn for her diploma...
still waiting...
waiting for her diploma (actually, she's really waiting for her graduation cookie, but this is also when she gets the diploma.)

M&M's anyone?

Here are some pictures from the nursery. The big stuff is done though we are still shopping for some kind of toy/book storage something for next to the crib. It will just be a matter of organizing stuff as we get it between now and then. Only 8 weeks to go.

Baby Bump and a Beard

Here are some long awaited pictures of my belly, that so many have been requesting to see. I also attached a picture of Mike - who has been growing a beard for the last month. He's still undecided if he wants to keep it or not. He likes not shaving everyday, but that's the only real perk he's found from it so far... Enjoy!
