Catching Up

In my last post I said I'd post her 3 month picture and comparison pictures to Daddy tomorrow. When you have a 3 month old and a full-time job (other than parenting), tomorrow is a relative term. So, pretend you just read the previous post yesterday. Here is her picture at 3 months.
Here is comparison to Daddy:
Mikaela at 3 months:

Michael at 3 months.
More fun shots of Mikaela:

Here's Mikaela sitting on the couch watching the Super Bowl with her Aunt Amy.

She's recently discovered the circling butterflies and green lights on her swing.
In the walker at the baby sitters. She thinks she is such a big girl in this.

Probably the most exciting thing to happen around her is the RECORD BREAKING snowfall that occurred starting around 4 or 5 am Thursday, February 11 and continuing sometime past midnight. It snowed ALL day. I believe DFW measured 12.5 inches. It was so beautiful!
We stuck a ruler in the undisturbed snow on our patio table. Our read out only came out to 5.5 inches, but that's still a lot of snow for us!
Cocoa Bean enjoyed it too. She tried to catch the snowballs Mike would throw at her.

Our neighborhood:

We took Mikaela out for just a few minutes get some pictures. Technically this is her 3rd snow. Her first was the day she turned 1 month old. We didn't get pictures because we had a doctor's appointment that day. Her second snow was Christmas Eve. This one she finally got to really see though sadly she's still too young to really play in it.

3 Months Old

Time is flying by fast. Mikaela is 3 months old. At her appointment last week (for being sick) she weighed 9 lbs 11oz. We'll do actual measurements next month. She is now taking 5 oz bottles and sleeping a little better at night. She goes down sometime around 9 and sleeps until sometime between 6 and 7 with usually only one wake up time in the night. Some nights she goes down better than others, but we're working on it. She can support her weight on her legs and will "stand" on your lap. She likes to sit up (supported) and watch the world around her. She smiles a lot and "talks" often. She's starting to really reach out and grab things including necklaces and hair. Daddy's glasses will be next, I'm sure. She now enjoys her swing, which she didn't before. I think the reflux is subsiding so she is less uncomfortable, though she still sleeps at an incline at night. The "bunny" picture will come in a day or so. Camera and baby weren't cooperating.

Making Comparisons to Mommy

This is something I've been wanting to do for a while. I don't have exactly the same poses but I thought it'd be fun to do a little comparison of Mikaela and her Mommy.

Mikaela - 2 days old.

Donna - 2 days old

Mikaela - 7 weeks old
Donna - 7 weeks old (yes it is the same dress).
Do you think she looks like Mommy? Tomorrow we'll post Daddy's 3 month and Mikaela's 3 month and make another comparison.

Dedication Sunday

Sunday was Baby Dedication Sunday at our church. Someone (this year it was Emily Simpson - whom (or who?) I've known since she was 2...) sings a song about raising children/God's gift in children and they show a slide show of the babies being dedicated and their parents. And as luck would have it, Mikaela was the only baby being dedicated this Sunday, so it ended up being "The Mikaela Show."

Elder Charles Coppage delivered the dedication message since our new Senior Minister was only voted in last week and is still in the process of moving here. Extra special though was Elder David Graem-pa who was also a part of it. Graem-ma was there as well.
Even Mikaela bowed her head to pray as we dedicated our precious little one to the Lord and vowed to raise her to know Jesus and teach her about being a Christian girl/woman.
